C. S. Lewis (1898–1963) was an Irish author, scholar and lay theologian. He associated with J. R. R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, and other fantasy authors in the Oxford University literary group known as the Inklings in the 1930s and 1940s. Besides his fantasy novels Lewis is recognized for his non-fiction works in the field of Christian Apologetics.
